Melissa Denyer (BTEC Level 5 & BSc) at bodytonic clinic®
Melissa is a qualified Sport & Remedial Massage Therapist. She attained her BTEC Level 5 Professional Diploma from the London School of Sports Massage (LSSM). Melissa treats a wide range of conditions using Sports Massage including athletes with injuries due to repetitive stress on certain joints; individuals who sit at a desk all day who develop muscle tension and tightness in the upper back, shoulders and neck; and manual workers who have muscle tension in the lower back and arms. Her specialist methods used are: deep friction, neuromuscular techniques, muscle energy techniques, soft tissue release, positional release and connective tissue massage.
Melissa’s >Sports Massage techniques also help to prevent injury by monitoring Soft Tissue & Muscle Conditions, aid recovery & rehabilitation if injured and increase flexibility and mobility to feel better (especially with age!). All of this in-turn enhances sporting performance and quality of life!
Melissa is a highly experienced pool and open water swimmer from Australia. After a competitive and successful pool swimming career she went on to enjoy success at National level in surf-lifesaving and at International level in out-rigging. She then found her niche in open water swimming and currently competes in marathon swim events, globally. Due to her past and present experiences as an athlete she fully understands many injuries that she currently treats, having suffered from most of them in the past! These experiences have given her a unique insight into the best methods of Sports Massage treatment and to feel first-hand the benefit of regular Sports Massage to reduce recovery time after training or competition.
Melissa is also qualified in Pregnancy Massage. With the many postural changes that take place during Pregnancy (in the spine, pelvis & hips) massage can help relieve any discomfort, promote relaxation and regain muscular balance.
Melissa passed a Kinesio Taping level 2 course in 2016 with flying colours and has already seen the benefits of supplementing her Sports Massage treatments with this additional technique.
Melissa is fully insured with Balens and a member of the ISRM (Institute of Sport and Remedial Massage).
