Angela believes the constant pressure on us to make an effort, in terms of improving our routines and lifestyle, should not come at the cost of jeopardizing our own energy and happiness. In addition to heightening self-awareness, regularly reflecting on our beliefs and actions is an excellent way to monitor energy levels and better understand our bodies. It is clear that everyone can benefit from prioritising their own self a little more. This has become ever more apparent over the last 24 months, as we have been subject to the many challenges of lockdowns and restrictions.

Angela has a keen, and developing interest in natural, herbal remedies. As a child, she suffered from severe skin conditions. The intense steroid treatment which was prescribed to aid these conditions caused her to develop multiple food allergies. Her childhood difficulties led to her spending her later years curating a diet and skincare regimen that nurtured her body, without restricting any part of the joys that food can bring. Angela loves cooking food from, and inspired by her Middle Eastern heritage; the traditional dishes she grew up eating are relatively simple to adapt and modify in order to suit a range of dietary requirements. The anti-inflammatory properties of a Mediterranean diet have been thoroughly researched, proving to help tackle musculo-skeletal pain, which is often one of the reactions to common allergies and intolerances, such as a gluten sensitivity.

Angela believes that whatever is internalised by our bodies, both physically and emotionally, will be reflected on our skin. For this reason, it is always important to listen to what our bodies are trying to tell us, and to fix these problems with a holistic approach. Be it a modification of diet, routine or lifestyle, or implementing new regimes such as health treatments, a positive change to one small aspect of our body will ultimately have a positive effect across the whole. The beauty treatments offered at bodytonic clinic really take into account the entire health of a body, rather than simply working on its external shell. After having dealt with sensitive skin alongside a rapidly changing diet for years, this is an ethos that greatly appeals to Angela.

It is important to be kind to ourselves and remember to treat our bodies with respect. Day to day life in general will prevent us from being perfect at this. Angela has the understanding that it is how we aim to overcome the challenges of day to day life and actively practice better routines, which is most important.

Rosemary Sibley

After moving away from Kent at age eighteen to study English Literature, Rosemary suddenly found herself moved from a tight-knit family home to a small communal flat in London. With newfound freedom came a lack of routine and the adoption of bad habits as she learned to look after herself. Mindfulness was her first step into wellness, as she reflected on where her disorganisation and lack of motivation came from and started to harness the power of constructive internal criticism.

Incorporating a routine, a healthy diet and regular exercise in her life assisted in a positive mood and made creativity more accessible. Rosemary found that curiosity about her mind and body laid a foundation for growth and healing harmful patterns. Through working hard, learning from her many mistakes and most importantly, communicating with others, she started up her own freelance Copywriting business which she still operates today.

Rosemary has recently joined our customer service, administration team. She journeyed from a passion for looking healthy and feeling healthy to copywriting for beauty blogs and wellness facilities. She has learnt a lot about wellness and knows how important it is to look after yourself both mentally and physically and how to help others in this regard of holistic health. Rosemary believes that we have an ethical obligation to attend to our well-being and that how we treat ourselves reflects how we treat others, and others treat us. She holds on to the philosophy that wellness means self-love.

In particular, during writing for wellness facilitates, Rosemary learned how to direct her expertise and find power from positivity and communication. She discovered that developing content effectively meant more accessibility to holistic health benefits, meaning her job satisfaction continues to grow as she learns and creates more. Burning out a few times, Rosemary also adopted a successful work-life balance after trial and error, experiencing that rest and work equally hold value in our lives and true productivity comes from nurturing oneself.

“Writing and wellness are both ways we can learn about ourselves.”

Rosemary knows it is hard to predict what wellness will look like in the future, but she believes it’s about empathy, community, and collecting lessons along the way. She feels like she has learnt a lot and she is excited to learn a whole lot more.

Daniel thinks it’s important to be approachable in the workplace, building good relationships both with his colleagues and customers. Daniel has always felt that the workplace should be as comfortable as anywhere else, believing it is useful to build relationships with everyone he meets as it just breeds positivity but specifically in the workplace it’s great as it makes it easier to discuss things, bounce ideas off each other and just feel satisfied and comfortable in his place of work.

He has always tried to maintain an active lifestyle by participating in various sports all his life but mostly track and field running. Starting off at school and progressing through county and university levels, it’s something that he still loves to do to clear his mind and as it offers great thinking time it’s something he’ll do recreationally a few times a week at least. Daniel believes there’s definitely something to putting your own music on, being in the zone and just going where you want to, and then naturally that comes with great health benefits both physically and mentally.

More recently this year Daniel has started to appreciate the importance of a healthy lifestyle and one of the most important contributors to that is a routine. He likes to come into work prepared and exercise before work to ensure he’s coming in everyday prepared and effective. He’s always been an avid reader but more recently I’ve transitioned to health writers, just to benefit from the wealth of knowledge from others with regards to managing sleep, stress, anxiety or anything that may come up during his day to day.

This year he has started various activities like jiu-jitsu and yoga. The main attraction of living in a city to Daniel is how much there is to do, he feels that being in London has opened him up to a vast array of new opportunities and experiences and that’s something that’s made him feel a lot more fulfilled both professionally and personally. He looks forward to continuing this mindset and enjoying whatever experiences become available to him.

He has always maintained a good social group and understands the importance of keeping a great work life balance. Daniel feels that It’s good to challenge himself in my work and set realistic but lofty challenges and balancing that out by both taking care of and enjoying himself as much as he can outside of work. He likes to be around friends, organizing something to do after work whether it be going for drinks or seeing a movie, trying to make every day an experience just to separate the work week and not get too weighed down.

Daniel’s main goal at the moment is just to enjoy what he does professionally, as he believes that sets the tone for the rest of his life. He’d like to get involved in things he sees in the workplace whatever that may be and slowly grow and advance himself with the clinic. He’ll always do what he can to bring as much as he can both to his professional and personal life, and he is open to whatever opportunities become available to him.

Eleanor Woodcock

Eleanor is a new member of our reception and administration team here at Bodytonic clinic and recently moved to London from Brisbane, Australia. You can find her behind the front desk, prepared to help and assist you with any question regarding our clinics, treatment or practitioners.

As a result of growing up half her life in Singapore and the other half in Australia, Eleanor is not new to change. This instilled the ability to adapt to a new and different environment. It helped her realise how important change is to grow and evolve both on a personal and professional level, as it pushes Eleanor out of her comfort zones and challenges her to think differently. As she understands the need to be open and accepting of change, and that the real impact is in how she responds to that change. An outlook Eleanor tries to implement in her daily life.

Having played sports for the majority of her life from swimming to Touch football and hockey; Eleanor is not new to the practice of physiotherapy. Having utilised physiotherapy with both sports and personal problems, Eleanor believes that physiotherapy is not simply necessary for athletes or specific injuries but can help aid anyone in maintaining or improving one’s quality of life. Having experienced first-hand how it can help improve and eventually maintain a healthy active body.

Eleanor has also recently through her final years at university, learned about a more holistic outlook on your body, how each part impacts another and can help improve your overall wellness. How an active lifestyle, balanced diet and mindfulness can help decrease stress and improve emotional regulation; particularly during the pandemic which limited avenues of exercise and increased anxiety. Learning to utilise exercise and active mindfulness to combat stress and create a routine allowed Eleanor to curate a more balanced frame of mind.

Within that, she loves to try different activities and learn new skills, as it’s another opportunity to challenge her way of thinking and keep her mind engaged. From boxing and yoga to pottery, Eleanor believes in whilst maintaining a routine should be a priority; entertaining her mind in a more creative aspect or exercising her body differently makes her brain more open and receptive to other ways of thinking. Allowing Eleanor to continually challenge her mind in positive ways, which Eleanor believes helps to prepare her mind for other challenges along the way.

Being a quite social person, Eleanor likes to keep busy in these areas to maintain a proficient work/life balance. As Eleanor believes that whilst having a good work culture is necessary to excel, maintaining a balance of both personal and professional allows her to succeed in both. Believing there should not need to be a sacrifice of one for the other. Having a positive and healthy outlook on downtime ensures that during work hours Eleanor is refreshed and ready to work hard and help our valued customers in any way she can.

Eleanor aims to maintain these attributes and goals as she begins her journey with the Body tonic clinic.
